Economic Security

PICO federations are working to address the economic pressures that challenge families looking for good jobs and raising children on limited incomes.

These stories illustrate our work for economic security:

San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP) in San Diego created the 6 to 6 Program, a partnership between the city and school district that provides thousands of working families with before and after-school programs at over 130 schools in San Diego.

Kansas City Church Community Organization (CCO) won passage of the first state legislation that caps the interest rates on predatory payday loan operations in Missouri and creates a framework of consumer protections to regulate the industry.

Metropolitan Organizations for People (MOP) in Denver won the first in the nation city Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) policy that uses city funds to matches state and federal EITC.
